Man with world's longest fingernails finally cuts them off …

July 14, 2018 0
An Indian man who holds the record for the “longest fingernails on a single hand” reportedly got them clipped for the first time in more than six decades.
Shridhar Chillal, 82, went to New York City’s “Ripley’s Believe It or Not!” for the long-awaited clipping, according to a Wednesday report from Guinness World Records.
Ripley’s reported that Chillal’s nails had grown to exceed 350 inches and showed photos of them both curled and stretched out over a table.

The last time Chillal’s fingernails were clipped was reportedly in 1952 and his choice to keep them long stemmed from an incident when he was a teenager, according to the outlet. Ripley’s said it all began after the future record-holder had gotten in trouble with a teacher for inadvertently breaking the educator’s own lengthy finger nail.
In a post on Instagram, the Guinness World Records described the occasion as “the end of an era.”
“After 66 years of growth, record-breaker Shridhar Chillal from India has cut off his enormous fingernails – which will now go on display at @ripleysbelieveitornot in Times Square, New York, USA,” the post said.
It included photos of Chillal, which appear to be after the cutting, and others showing the now-trimmed nails in a display case.
“Due to years of growing his nails and their weight, his left hand was permanently handicapped; he cannot open his hand from a closed position or flex his fingers,” the post said. It went on to quote Chillal as saying, “I am in pain. With every heart beat all five fingers, my wrist, elbow and shoulder are hurting a lot and at the tip of the nail there's a burning sensation always.”

Trump slams British PM over Brexit plan, warns US trade deal 'probably' dead in the water

July 13, 2018 0
President Trump criticized British Prime Minister Theresa May's handling of Brexit Thursday, telling The Sun newspaper that her plan was "very unfortunate" and would "probably" kill any possible trade deal between the U.S. and the U.K.
The comments could be seen as a body blow to May's government, which is struggling to steady itself after two key Cabinet members -- including Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson -- resigned in protest earlier this week at her plan to keep Britain and the European Union in a free market for goods, with a more distant relationship for services.
When asked about the ongoing negotiations between May's government and the EU over the terms of their divorce, Trump told The Sun: "I would have done it much differently. I actually told Theresa May how to do it but she didn’t agree, she didn’t listen to me.
"She wanted to go a different route. I would actually say that she probably went the opposite way. And that is fine, she should negotiate the best way she knows how. But it is too bad what is going on."
President calls summit a success in a surprise press conference following an emergency session on defense spending; Kevin Corke reports from London.
May, who voted "Remain" in the 2016 referendum on leaving the EU, proposed earlier Thursday that Britain and the bloc would stick to a "common rulebook" with the EU for goods and agricultural products in return for free trade, without tariffs or border customs checks. Such a resolution would avoid disruption to automakers and other manufacturers that source parts from multiple countries.
The plan has enraged so-called "Brexiteers," who have looked to a possible U.S.-U.K. trade deal as one of the biggest boons that would result from leaving the 27-member bloc.
like [May's plan], we would be dealing with the European Union instead of dealing with the U.K., so it will probably kill the deal ... We have enough difficulty with the European Union. We are cracking down right now on the European Union because they have not treated the United States fairly on trading."
Trump even went so far as to question whether May's plan constituted a true exit from the European Union: "The deal she is striking is a much different deal than the one the people voted on. It was not the deal that was in the referendum."
In response to the interview, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement that Trump "likes and respects Prime Minister May very much. As he said in his interview with the Sun she 'is a very good person' and he 'never said anything bad about her'. He thought she was great on NATO today and is a really terrific person.
Johnson quit just hours after Brexit Secretary David Davis stepped down; the two men said they could not support Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit plan.
"He is thankful for the wonderful welcome from the Prime Minister here in the U.K."
While Trump was critical of May, he was full of praise for Johnson, who he called "a very talented guy."
"I was very saddened to see he was leaving government and I hope he goes back in at some point. I think he is a great representative for your country."
With Britain scheduled to leave the European Union on March 29, 2019, here is everything you need to know about the pro-Brexit and anti-Brexit groups in the UK.
When asked if Johnson could replace May as prime minister, Trump said: "Well, I am not pitting one against the other. I am just saying I think he would be a great Prime Minister. I think he's got what it takes."
Johnson, a former mayor of London, was the most prominent supporter of Brexit and resigned as foreign secretary after reportedly calling May's plan a "turd." Johnson was slightly more diplomatic in his resignation letter, warning May that Britain was "headed for the status of a colony" within the EU.
Trump also had harsh words for current London Mayor Sadiq Khan, a fervent critic of the president, saying Khan "has done a terrible job" running Europe's third-largest city.
"I think he has done a very bad job on terrorism. I think he has done a bad job on crime, if you look, all of the horrible things going on there, with all of the crime that is being brought in."
The president also warned that Britain and Europe was "losing its culture" due to mass migration.
"I think it changed the fabric of Europe and, unless you act very quickly, it’s never going to be what it was and I don’t mean that in a positive way."
The interview was published online as May greeted Trump at a lavish welcome reception at Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill. Trump's staff has opted to keep him largely out of central London and the swarms of demonstrators who are expected to protest the president's every move during his two-day stay in the U.K.
Fox News' Serafin Gomez and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Mexico earthquake uncovers ancient temple hidden in damaged pyramid

July 13, 2018 0
Archeologists made a stunning discovery in Mexico on Wednesday when they uncovered an ancient temple nestled inside an Aztec-era pyramid that was damaged during last September's 7.1-magnitude earthquake.

Scientists from Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) were checking for structural damage on the Teopanzolco pyramid in Morelos state, about 43 miles south of Mexico City, with a radar when they discovered the 20-by-13-feet temple.

“In spite of what the earthquake meant, it is necessary to be thankful that, for this natural phenomenon, this important structure [appeared] that changes the dating of the archaeological site,” the institute said in a news release.

The temple dates back further than the pyramid, which was built sometime between 1200 and the Spanish conquest in 1521. Archeologists believe the temple was built between 1150 and 1200 and was dedicated to the Aztec rain god Tlaloc.
An incense burner and ceramic shards were also located among the remains.

Barbara Koniecza, archeologist from the INAH Morelos Center, said it was common for pre-Hispanic cultures to build one temple over another.
"Possibly, on the right side are the remains of another temple dedicated to Huitzilopochtli,” she said in a Wednesday news conference.
She added that the pyramid endured extensive damage during the September quake.

"The pyramid suffered considerable rearrangement of the core of its structure," Koniecza said.
Koniecza explained the quake left big gaps between the stones, causing the pyramid to be unstable. Scientists are working to restore the pyramid’s main structure.

The earthquake struck on Sept. 19, causing significant damage to many historical monuments, including colonial churches. More than 200 people were killed in Mexico City and many people were trapped under rubble when buildings were toppled.

BREAKING! The Beast Wilder Finally Agrees To Fight Anthony Joshua (Who Will Win?)

June 12, 2018 0
American Deontay Wilder has agreed terms to fight Anthony Joshua in Britain later this year, in a bout that would crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 2000.
Wilder’s co-manager, Shelly Finkel told ESPN they had agreed to the latest terms offered by Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn.
“We have agreed to the terms that Eddie has put out to us for a fight in the U.K. Deontay has accepted his terms to fight in the U.K.,” Finkel said.
Wilder, in a message posted on his Twitter account, confirmed he had agreed to fight in Britain but said an offer to Joshua of $50 million to fight in the United States was still on the table.
“The $50M offer for him to fight me next in the US is still available,” Wilder said on Monday.
“Today I even agreed to their offer to fight Joshua next in the UK. If he prefers the fight in the UK, the ball is in their court.”
The WBC title is the only one remaining on Joshua’s radar after he added the WBO championship to his collection, by defeating New Zealand’s Joseph Parker in a March by unanimous decision.
Joshua (21-0) is the holder of the IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO titles while Wilder (40-0) is the WBC world champion.

African Migrant Who Rescued Boy From Building Gets Rewarded By French President (Photos)

May 28, 2018 0
The Malian migrant who scaled four-storeys up a building to rescue a dangling toddler has been named an honorary French citizen after meeting with the president, Emmanuel Macron said.
Mamoudou Gassama – nicknamed the Spiderman of Paris – climbed the city apartment block to reach the helpless child.
The 22-year-old, who only arrived in the country a few months ago, had already been promised authorities would support his efforts to settle there after a video of his heroics went viral.
But, after meeting the French president at the Elysee Palace on Monday morning, he was told he would be made a naturalised citizen straight away.
Mr Macron personally thanked the Mr Gassama, gave him a medal for courage and said he would also be made a fireman, the AFP news agency reports.
Footage taken at the scene on Saturday night shows crowds watching in astonishment as Mr Gassama climbed the four floors in less than a minute to pull the four-year-old to safety.
He told French broadcaster BFMTV afterwards: “I did not think, I saved him.” He added: “When I took him in my arms, I spoke with him and asked: ‘Why did you do that?’ But he did not answer.”
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo lauded his actions and said she had called him to personally say thanks.
Calling him the “Spiderman of the 18th” – a reference to the city district where the incident unfolded – she said: “Congratulations to Mamoudou Gassama for his act of bravery that saved the life of a child.”
The Parisian fire service told how they arrived at the scene to find their work already done.
“Luckily, there was someone who was physically fit and who had the courage to go and get the child,” a spokesman said.
Local authorities told French media the child’s parents were not at home at the time.
The father has been questioned by police on suspicion of leaving his child unattended while going to the shops. The mother was not in Paris at the time, it is reported.
Mr Macron personally thanked Mr Gassama, gave him a medal for courage and said he would also be made a fireman, the AFP news agency reports.

CHAMPIONS! Bale Scores Unbelievable Goal As Real Madrid Beat Liverpool 3 – 1 To retain Champions League

May 28, 2018 0
Gareth Bale scored two goals – including a stunning overhead kick – as Real Madrid beat Liverpool to win the Champions League for the third year in a row.
A bizarre Loris Karius mistake allowed Karim Benzema to score the opener early in the second half but Liverpool, who lost PFA Player of the Year Mohamed Salah to a shoulder injury in the first half, responded immediately when Sadio Mane stabbed in from close range.
However, just three minutes after coming on as a substitute, Bale restored Real’s lead with one of the best goals ever seen in a Champions League final, connecting superbly with Marcelo’s defected cross.
Mane hit the post soon after but Liverpool’s hopes of a sixth European Cup were ended when Karius made another costly mistake, this time failing to get any direction on his attempt to push away Bale’s fierce strike, with the ball squirming into the net.
Liverpool famously fought back from 3-0 down against AC Milan to win the 2005 Champions League but there was to be no heroic fight back this time as Real Madrid claimed their 13th European Cup.
It is also the second time Real have won three European Cups in a row, having gone on to win five in succession from 1956, and only the fourth time it has happened in 63 years.

Champions League! 170,000 Sign Petition For FIFA To BAN Ramos Over Foul On Salah

May 28, 2018 0

Well this is shocking 😳
We can confirm that a change.org petition has already garnered more than 100,000 signatures that wants UEFA and FIFA to take action against Real Madrid defender Ramos over his foul on Liverpool star Salah that saw him forced off and also likely to miss the world cup.
“Sergio Ramos intentionally kept Mohamed Salah’s arm under his armpit, causing dislocation of his shoulder. Not only missing the rest of the game, but also missing the FIFA World Cup 2018,” the petition’s author ‘Mohamed Salah Abdel-Hakeem’ argues.
“In addition he kept acting that Liverpool players fouled him falsely, causing the referee to give Mane a yellow card he did not deserve.
Sergio Ramos represents an awful example to future generations of football players. Instead of winning matches fairly, he uses tricks that defy the spirit of the game and fair play.
“UEFA and FIFA should take measures against Ramos and similar players, using the video recordings of matches to keep the spirit of the game.”
